USS FUNSTON

USS FUNSTON
I was aboard the USS Funston in June of 1956 and my way the Alaska. Sea sick were many in the Gulf of Alaska. Fortunately, guess a little for me.

(Gulf of Alaska, June 56)

ship rolling bow down

earthly creatures bow in pain

heaving to and fro.

I was onboard the USS Funston in the winter of 1956 when my family was transported from Seattle, Wa to Whittier, Ak. We encountered such a severe storm in the Gulf of Alaska that we were all sick as dogs for several days. A submarine surfaced alongside downwind and remained there for several hours, reportedly to escape undersea turbulence. Were any other readers onboard at that time who may have stories or photos to share?
